January 6, 2010I recently stumbled through some old things - and old things - meaning things that I have grown to live without for the past 4 years. It was pretty amusing and surprising especially when these kind of things suddenly emerge just because they almost drowned during Ondoy’s visit in Manila. So there, while I run through old notebooks, books and old test papers from college, I chance upon a copy of vol.1 issue 2 of DAPITAN: the literary folio of Flame (AB’s literary group). It wasn’t long before i saw myself skimming through it and a particular line suddenly struck me. It was written by a very good friend of mine, (we used to be seatmates in freshmen year) as part of his forward for DAPITAN.
“Ang totoo, inaabangan natin ang daraan at hindi ang darating.” - J.dl Saguid
I begin to wonder how true the line is… how we try to wait for something or even someone and eventually - let it pass by. How its easy for some people to let go of things that they waited for so long…the chances given and the choices made.
So here I am, between chances and choices, I think it’s about high-time for me to go back to my first love - writing.
